Some people may be willing to leave their employment in order to care for their parents. It can be expensive because now they need special care like regular medical checkups, medicines, etc. Government runs a number of healthcare services that provide low-cost or free checkups for the elders. We should make use of these benefits. It will help us to keep track of the health of our parents at reduced costs as well.
4. You must ensure they take their medicines on time and be sure they eat proper meals:
Whether you take care of your parents or a caregiver, always ensure that they take their medicines properly because it is very important to take medicines on time as per advised by the doctors. Paying attention to their diet is equally important. At their age, they may not be able to consume much, so it is important to feed them with a nutritious and healthy meal at least 3 times a day.
5. You should also be sure of cleanliness:
Now they are not active enough to take care of the cleanliness of the living area and personal hygiene. Make sure they wear washed clothes and change them from time to time. Give your attention to their living area, as they are clean like dust from furniture, vacuum their floor, wash their dishes and clean up spilt food, etc.
6. Learn to be tolerant and increase in patience:
We all want things to do our way and we don't want them to do things their way. You can tell them what to do as much as you want, but they will still do what they want to do. Accept this as a fact of life and don't bring it on your own. They're not rebellious or defiant, they are just trying to do the best they can with their limited abilities. They won't be as responsive as you would like them to be because of their constraints. They will talk slower, move slower and respond slower. Make plans with consideration of their limitations.

They are in a stage of life where they have lost their filters and, therefore, must be treated differently. In many cases, they will speak and act like a child, so it is up to you to be an adult. Sometimes they are repeating stories, getting mad or frustrated with you, sounding angry at you. Don’t say, “You’ve already told me that.” Never forget that they are your parents and what the scriptures tell us about respecting our parents. Don’t take anything personally.
